The CAPCH is a national, not-for-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization that is committed to:

  • Researching, designing, sharing and implementing ideas that will make the Canadian health system more responsive to the needs of the people
  • To being a voice for the people
  • Giving the people a voice

People-Centred is based on the reality that each person manages and is responsible for their personal health and wellbeing. The CAPCH advocates more involvement by the average Canadian in their healthcare so that we all become the strategic architects of our own system – “a people-model” health system.

The book, Journey to Wellness, presents a vision and comprehensive proposal for the evolution of the Canadian Health system to a people-centred model.

The CAPCH proposes that:

  • A health system must be dynamic and continue to evolve and grow as any system should for a population that is constantly changing and growing.
  • A health system must be founded on clear definitions and principles of health, and all aspects of the system - public and private - should be evaluated by the same rules and regulations.
  • Our health system should be “people-centred”, rather than driven by political goals, professional and special interest groups and social ideologies.

The concept of people-centred healthcare can be built upon the strong and enviable system Canada already has in place.  Our country is stuck using an illness system to take care of its people. It is time to recognize health is about more than illness. It is about prevention, wholism and wellness and there is a need to define all of these. It is about people striving to become all they are capable of with respect to a personally defined balance of mental, physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

Canada should again be a world leader in healthcare and Canadians are capable of creating a health system that supports each person on a personal journey to wellness. We welcome your support and believe that “Together we can make a difference”.
